I read something the other day from Success From Home Magazine that struck me as a “No Brainer.”
Two-fold Health Factor: Reduce Your Waistline, Increase Your Brain Power
Those who are considered overweight, having a body mass index (BMI) of 25 to 30, have a 4 percent smaller brain. The brain also appears 8 years older than one within the normal weight range.
People who fall into the obese category (BMI of 30 plus), have 8 percent gray matter and the their brains look 16 years older than fitter people. Even a 4 percent loss constitutes severe brain degeneration and puts you at a much higher risk of Alzheimer’s and other brain diseases.
Now to me this is a no brainer move on the direction we should be heading. Even small changes in the waistline seem to increase the size of the brain or at least reduce the gray matter. I don’t think gray matter is a good thing.
I have a program I partake in, Heath and Fitness Challenge, that is reducing my waistline and I guess time will tell if my brain is increasing in size. Real simple I am thinking clearer, more alert and just plain feel fantastic. ~ Brian Verigin
