Have you ever been totally confused on what a home business is? I would guess most of you have heard of it, some of you know a bit about it and most of us have heard about Multi Level Marketing (MLM). Unfortunately the MLM term is usually follow by the word “Scheme” or “Scam.” This does give the direct selling industry a bad name. I would like to give you some insight and hopefully change your negative perception. It’s really brilliant the way MLM works and it is for real with an incredible opportunity.
Being part of an MLM is very exciting and if you do it right you can be very successful. This business model is absolutely huge and many of the longest standing organizations are built on this model. MLM is a strategy in which its promoters or distributors are compensated for their personal sales but also for the sales of others they recruit. This creates a downline of distributors or team and a hierarchy of levels of compensation. This is legit but why is there such a bad rap on the MLM industry?
It is true MLM companies have been subject of frequent criticism as well as the target of many lawsuits. Zeek rewards comes to mind. The criticism is focused on illegal pyramid schemes, emphasis on recruitment of lower-tiered salespeople over actual sales, complex and sometimes exaggerated compensation schemes, price fixing of products, high initial start up cost, encouraging if not requiring salespeople to purchase and use the company’s products, potential exploitation of personal relationships which are used as new sales and recruiting targets, and cult like techniques which some groups use to enhance their members’ enthusiasm and devotion.
You have to be entrepreneurial minded to succeed in this type of venture and to think you will earn money just by signing up is a false perception.
My guess is you have heard of Mary Kay, Avon, ViSalus, Advocare, Tupperware, Vemma and many more. The people that are successful are the ones who believe in the product and will stand behind it. These companies empower their promoters to refer their products and actually establish their own home business or MLM. You have to be entrepreneurial minded to succeed in this type of venture and to think you will earn money just by signing up is a false perception.
You do not have a boss watching over you and should have a pre-established structure and support to grow your business. Most MLM’s provide a lucrative compensation plan, great training and additional rewards and incentives for doing well. Be selective in your search before you make any commitments. Some compensation and reward plans are over-hyped in reality and near impossible to be successful.
Becoming and entrepreneur is exciting and a golden opportunity for the ones who want it.
The MLM industry gives an opportunity for anyone to be able to have a substantial financial benefit. It gives the enthusiastic ones an opportunity to take their lives in their own hands. So the next time you run into someone who is involved in an MLM tell them you are proud of them for taking their career and life into their own hands. Becoming and entrepreneur is exciting and a golden opportunity for the ones who want it.
